The Gilded age was an exciting time period that saw the rapid expansion of industrialization and an influx of immigrants in America. With the goal of pursuing the American dream and escaping the poverty of European and Asian nations, these immigrants would be the labor force for an emerging global superpower. At the same time, rampant poverty, corruption, discrimination, and income inequality plagued America and would greatly alter society for years to come.
