As close as the moon is to the earth, only one side of the moon is every directly visible to us. The "far-side" of the moon has remained somewhat of a mystery as it has only been photographed by space probes and has never been landed on by humans.
1) Why is this part of the moon not directly visible from earth? 2) What advancements have the Chinese already made on the moon? 3) Some people feel that spending money on space research is a waste of money with so many problems here on earth. Do you think we should spend more or less money on space research? Why? |

I. The "dark side" of the moon is not directly visible from Earth because it is the moon's far hemisphere. Since the moon rotates about every 27 days, 41% of the moons's surface is hidden.

This part of the moon is not visible from Earth because since the moon rotates as it orbits Earth, only one side is ever visible from Earth. The text states, "Over the course of this “synchronous rotation,” as the phenomenon is known, we see only about 59 percent of the moon’s surface; the other 41 percent, sometimes called the “dark side” of the moon, is never visible from Earth."

This Part of the moon is not visible because we only see about 59% since the earth rotates about every 27 days, causing us not able to see that 41% which is hidden. Some advancements that the Chinese have already made on the moon were in 2003 when they launched they're first astronaut. The text says, "In late 2013, the unmanned spacecraft Chang’e 3 made a soft landing on the lunar surface, making China the third nation " This was another advancement they had made even though they were 3rd they are yet to still advance more. "China’s growing space program has announced its plans to make a historic landing on the far side of the moon in 2018—two years earlier than originally planned." This is how far they have gotten to advance in Space research. I think we should spend more money on space research because there are yet many more things to explore. Even though people think we shouldn't waste anymore money. But, if we keep exploring we might just find something so exotic that can be a great impact on our country. We could explore much more and be able to understand our country more than we know. So we should spend more money.

We are not able to see the "dark side" of the moon. We only see about 59% and the other 41% we are not able to see. We can not see it because of the far hemisphere. The moon rotates and that is why we can't see almost half of it."in reality it rotates about every 27 days, approximately the same amount of time the moon takes to orbit the Earth once. Over the course of this “synchronous rotation,” as the phenomenon is known, we see only about 59 percent of the moon’s surface; the other 41 percent, sometimes called the “dark side” of the moon, is never visible from Earth."

The dark side of the moon is not visible because the moon and the earth have a synchronized orbit. The moon rotates every 27 days which is the same amount of time that it takes for the moon to orbit the Earth, causing us to only see about half of the moon. This is not China's first space advancement, however. In 2003 they launched an astronaut into space which took billions of dollars. China was also the third country to land on the moon after the United States of America and the former USSR. When they land on the dark side of the moon they will be making space history, as the first country to land on it. I personally think that we should be spending less money on space travel and exploration. The article states that the Chinese are using billions of dollars to explore space, money that could be used to deal with problems. There is poverty and war going on, and many people who are suffering. We should try to stop things that are going on here first before trying to deal with things going on outside of the planet.

The darkside of the moon is not visible because the moon rotates and only the part facing the earth can be seen. It isnt the first time China landed on the moon. They did before in 2003. Whne they do land on the moon, they will make history for the space travelers. I belive we should spend less money on space and more money on helping others.

1)The "dark side" of the moon is not visible due to the synchronous rotations with the Earth. Every 27 days the moon makes a full rotation so we only see 59% of the moon while the other 41% is unknown.

1.) This side of the moon is not visible because the moon rotates while it is orbiting earth.

1- The "far-side" is not visible from Earth due to a phenomenon called "synchronous rotation". This is when the moon's orbit is at a 27 hour peak and 59% of the surface is hidden to our mother planet.
