This article has me thinking about Terminator and the Matrix. Is it possible that in the future computers will become so advanced that they could become self-aware and seek to hurt their creators?
The Terminator and Matrix movies both dealt with this very issue and showed glimpses of a future where computers and robots rule over mankind. Is that really a possibility? |

This will never happen. We as humans will never be advanced enough to build these kinds of robots. Robots will never have there own free mind. Humans will have to program these robots to do simple task. Robots will always be in the factories where they belong.

I think this is possible and a little scary. I think it's possible because already technology has gone great lengths. Devices that have voice controls are always listening and people can find out practically anything about you on the internet. Some crazy people want robots that can help you and when this happens, people can use these things as killing machines and have you seen or read iRobot? Humans are not the most intelligent things on this Earth and computers can be used to find out anything. Some refrigerators have built in computers! I don't need to surf the web while looking for food in my fridge! So that's why I think having crazy robots with artificial intelligence is definitely possible and utterly mental for people to want!

Considering the rapid pace that technology is evolving by, I do believe that computers will someday be able to take control and try to hurt humans. We as humans are filled with greed and unable to accept what we have now, so there is always a push for more. There is always some way that technology could be made better. So, in this particular generation, technology evolves by the minute. The human race will potentially become so lazy that something will be created to complete every task for us. This something could become so powerful that no one can stop it. It will overpower its creator and humanity, as we know it, will be distinguished. This is a very scary thought being that I am only thirteen, and i have a whole life ahead of me. Who knows what will happen? The human race could potentially destroy itself out of greed, but not all at once. There will be know worries as the newest technology will be thought of as amazing, but it all contributes to something bigger. We, as humans, are missing the big picture. This UN meeting was very necessary because although this predicted future is frightening, it is not completely psychotic. So, this insane spread of technology should be slowed down, for it is going way too fast.

I think that it is not possible for this to happen. computers can be very smart and all but how would they now to turn against us. Computers are computers, they will not know what to do. movies like terminator and matrix are way too exaggerated. We are humans are smart enough to not create something like that. I know technology is advancing quickly and all but if you think about it, we are the ones creating the robots which means that we can tell them what to do. There is always going to be a way to shut down the system.

I think that is is possible for computers to one day take control and try to hurt humans. Technology is evolving very fast and by the pace it is growing, it is becoming stronger and stronger. It is becoming more intelligent as well and eventually, I think that it will be smarter than us. Humans always want to make things better but what if once, better was worse? Computers could become so powerful that they would want to lead a rebellion. Humans would be making robots that would do all the necessary needs. What if, in the future, humans sat around all day while robots did everything for them. Technology is amazing and all, but what if it becomes too good? We are missing the big picture here. All we want as humans is to survive and make our lives better. We are not thinking about how humanlike, powerful, and intelligent we are making technology. We will continue evolving technology and one day, what we once created, will destroy us. This insane spread of technology will not stop, but there is always a way to slow the speed down, and thats what we should do.

I think that robots will not be able to take over the world because the computers are not smart enough yet. They don't have brains like us and can't function on their own. They need to be programed in order to work and that means humans tell them what to do. They can't do anything themselves so they can't take over the world yet.

The evolution of technological literacy contributed by not only humans but other technologies including robots, in fact, I believe do have the capability to take control and harm a humanitarian life style. Meetings were recently held to control and discuss the rapid increase and demand for technology and it's pace of contribution to society. If this "mass production" of knowledge continues to grow this rapidly, then in just a few decades robots will have just as many capabilities as we, humans, do. Although the test-types and process to get to the set-point is fairly longer and lengthier than you or I would expect, the capability of those invented, match quite well. If robots "revolutionize" that much, perhaps, then humans could, at a possibility be overrun and neutralized to a lower class of species. In the article "Futuristic computers will bring the end of humanity! (or maybe not)" the author states, "The panel was also treated to a special discussion on the potential threats raised by artificial superintelligence—that is, AI whose capabilities greatly exceed those of humans." (page 1) This just goes to show the significance and thought of this matter. If the tactics we are currently using for technology continue to improve this efficiently, then robots will become more than just "helpers" but a domination. If you consider a creator turning on it's "birth-giver" a rivalry for advancement, then the possibilities for this new generation prosperity is most definitely possible. To think that the want of our generation is said to be a "need" the falseness of this satisfaction will eventually "fall". If this gets out of hand, who knows what the future has to hold, and more importantly, what will the future create?

I think this is definitely a real possibility. Just like during the industrial revolution, technology can evolve extremely quickly with little thought of the effects. Humans have already come very far in the ways we use technology and electronics, and will continue to progress their knowledge of it in the future. Since there are already trackers that can find out essentially anything, computers can absolutely do the same if programmed to do so. There are so many terrorist groups that we know little about, and these types of machines may already exist. We only know a small amount of what computers can do and whether these will be created in purpose or by accident, they still have the ability to disturb the human race. This can, and probably will happen in the future because technology is growing so quickly.

I think this is definitly a possibility although, I can not see it happening in my life time. If this does happen though the only people to blame would be humans for inventing these robots. Technology will hopefully always keep evolving but not in a way where robots end up being in control of humans. Robots already do so much that helps in our daily lives to where if they did turn on is it would be very horrible. I think the reason that this is even possible is because everything is evolving so fast that it is hard to say that something will never happen. We never know if robots like your phones are spying on us or if robots that make our food in factories are poisoning us (highly unlikely but not impossible). This fact scares me and I think it scares everyone else too but we should constantly be aware that this could happen.

I think this is a possibility. Our technology today is already very advanced and if we keep going with it this may be a possibility. Technology has evolved so much over time and will definitely keep getting more advanced. This may not happen for hundreds of years but when it does people probably would not be surprised because of how well technology already is
